Dhaka: Bangladesh Bank (BB) today purchased US$47.50 million from eight commercial banks through a multiple auction method as part of its ongoing strategy to curb the depreciation of the US dollar against the taka and revitalise the remittance and export sectors.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, central bank data indicates that the dollars were bought at the rate of Tk121.70-121.75. This move is seen as a measure to stabilise the national currency and support economic sectors that are crucial for the country's financial stability. Through such interventions, BB aims to manage the foreign exchange market and ensure a more balanced trade environment.
