Dhaka: Adviser to the interim government on the Ministry of Commerce, Sk Bashir Uddin, today urged Korean investors to increase their investment in Bangladesh, citing a favorable environment in the country. This appeal was made during a courtesy call by South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh, Park Young-sik, at Bashir's office in the Ministry of Commerce at Bangladesh Secretariat. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting included discussions on bilateral trade, a potential Free Trade Agreement (FTA), and strategies to attract more Korean investment to Bangladesh. The ministry's press release highlighted Bashir's remarks on the new opportunities brought by the recent student-led mass uprising, asserting that there is no turning back from the current momentum. Bashir emphasized that the interim government has met expectations over the past 100 days and expressed optimism that a signed FTA between Bangladesh and Korea would benefit both nations. He anticipated that such an agreement would enhance p eople-to-people connections while expanding trade and commerce. Bashir also expressed a desire for increased Korean investment in Bangladesh's light engineering, leather industry, and Export Processing Zones (EPZs). Ambassador Park highlighted Korea's interest in developing the technological skills of Bangladesh's large youth population. He noted that Korea has already made investments across various sectors in Bangladesh and plans to increase these investments in the future.
