Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal Appointed 18th Attorney General of Bangladesh

Dhaka: Supreme Court senior lawyer Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal has been appointed as the 18th Attorney General of Bangladesh.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a gazette notification signed by the Acting Secretary SM Ersahadul Alam of the Solicitor Wing of the Law and Justice Division announced the appointment by order of the President. The appointment was made under Article 64(1) of the Constitution and is effective immediately, remaining valid until further notice.



Barrister Kazal’s educational journey began with his SSC from Maheshpur High School in Jhenaidah in 1986 and HSC from Jessore Cantonment College in 1988. He then pursued higher education at the University of Dhaka, where he obtained both his LLB (Honours) and LLM degrees. Subsequently, he earned his Bar-at-Law qualification from Lincoln’s Inn in the United Kingdom.



His professional career includes serving as Second Secretary at the Bangladesh High Commission in London from 2003 to 2006. More recently, since 2020, he has been the Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association. Barrister Kazal also held the position of Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Bar Council, which is the regulatory authority for lawyers in Bangladesh.
