A fourth-grade employee of Barishal Sher-E- Bangla Medical College Hospital (BSBMCH) has been suspended for attempting to harass a nurse on Monday.
The accused Ifat Sanat worked as an assistant to a physician at the Medicine ward No-4 of the hospital.
The victim, a second year student of Barishal Nursing Medical College, said she went to the medicine ward to have her treated on Monday morning.
Ifat misbehaved with her and tried to harass her physically, she claimed, adding that he also uploaded a picture of her ID card on social media and threatened to take revenge.
Following the incident, her fellow students staged demonstrations in front of the emergency department of the hospital and demanded suspension of the accused.
The hospital authority gave in and suspended Ifat temporarily in the face of the movement. Besides, it formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident, said HM Saiful Islam, director of the hospital.
The accused would be suspended permanently if the allegations are found true, he added.
