Banned Jubo Mohila League Leader Arrested in Narsingdi

Narsingdi: Police have arrested Mahia Moni alias Moni, 42, joint convener of the Narsingdi district unit of the banned Awami Jubo Mohila League, from the Shiksha Chattar area of Narsingdi Sadar upazila. She was taken into custody on Saturday night, as confirmed by Narsingdi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.R.M. Mamun.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahia Moni, a resident of Srishtighar village in Shibpur upazila, is the daughter of Mujibur Rahman and Rokeya Rahman, and is married to Zainal Bhuiyan. She is implicated in a case filed with Jatrabari Police Station in Dhaka on September 20, 2024, under Sections 302, 201, and 34 of the Penal Code. The First Information Report (FIR) number is 54, and the General Register (GR) number is 840. Additionally, she faces charges in another case filed at Shibpur Model Police Station on February 1, 2019.

The police stated that her arrest was part of a special drive. Mahia Moni is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday afternoon, where she will be sent to jail.
