Manikganj:Police have arrested Shakil Ahmed, the president of the Singair upazila unit of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), from his residence in Irta village under Talebpur union of Singair upazila in Manikganj district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-Charge of Singair Police Station Md Mazharul Islam confirmed the arrest.
Shakil Ahmed had been in hiding since the fall of the banned Awami League government, police sources revealed. He is identified as the son of Mohammad Arju from Irta village in the upazila.
