Khulna: Agitated locals detained and handed over a banned Chhatra League (BCL) activist to police after beating him up in the city’s Alia Madrasa area last night. The arrestee has been identified as Rafiqul Islam, son of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Rupsha Ispahani Lane in Khulna.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rafiqul is a student of the City’s Alia Madrasa and was an activist of the banned BCL Alia Madrasa Unit, as confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Sadar Police Station. Rafiqul was reportedly known for his involvement in various acts of intimidation and torture against students and others during the previous tenure of the banned AL regime. He is also alleged to have handed over several innocent students to the police during that time.
