Dhaka: Branches of scheduled banks in the readymade garments (RMG) industrial areas will be operational on June 5, 11, and 12 to facilitate the payment of garment workers’ salaries, Eid bonuses, allowances, and to support export-import activities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh Bank (BB) released a circular today detailing that the areas where these banking services will be available include Dhaka, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chattogram. The circular specifies that clients will be able to conduct banking transactions between 10 am and 2 pm, although the offices will remain open until 4 pm.
The move aims to ensure that garment workers receive their dues ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha celebrations. After the holiday, banks are scheduled to resume regular activities starting June 15, providing services according to their standard operating hours.
