Dhaka: A day after his pledge to take more responsibility by playing long innings, Tanzid Hasan Tamim struck a scintillating century to lead Legends of Rupganj to a crushing 10-wicket victory over Partex Sporting Club in a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) game at BKSP-3 ground today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during a practice session yesterday, the young Bangladesh opener expressed his displeasure with himself for often losing his wicket after getting well set. He vowed to rectify this issue and promised to show his improvement in the ongoing DPL.
Less than 24 hours later, Tanzid delivered on his promise by smashing a commanding 59-ball 103 not out, guiding his side to a fifth victory in the league. This victory also kept Legends of Rupganj in the Super Six race.
After being asked to bat first, Partex was bowled out for a mere 129 in 34.4 overs, with Rubel Mea top-scoring with 24. Rupganj's offspinner Mahedi Hasan dismantled the Partex batting line-up with figures of 4-34.
Tanzid hit 10 fours and seven sixes in his unbeaten innings, helping Rupganj seal the victory in just 18.3 overs. Captain Saif Hassan remained not out on 26.
In the day's other match at BKSP-4 ground, Agrani Bank secured a four-wicket win over Brothers Union, marking their sixth victory in the league and placing them in fourth position on the points table.
