Dhaka: The Permanent Mission of Bangladesh in Geneva welcomed Team Polaris, a group of young Bangladeshi students who won the 13th edition of CERN's Beamline for Schools (BL4S) competition. According to United News of Bangladesh, Team Polaris competed against 712 teams from 89 countries and emerged as one of the five winning teams, alongside participants from the United States, the United Kingdom, Trkiye, and India. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the Bangladeshi team, showcasing their potential on a global platform. The journey of Team Polaris is a testament to their dedication and innovation. Despite limited facilities in Bangladesh, they conducted experiments that led them to the University of Bonn and CERN for further exploration. Their research focused on polysiloxane-based plastic scintillators for high-energy electron beam profiling at the ELSA accelerator of the University of Bonn, reflecting their scientific acumen. The team includes students from various colleges across Noakh ali, Rangpur, and Dhaka, representing a diverse range of educational backgrounds and a unified pursuit of excellence. Ambassador Nahida Sobhan extended her congratulations, emphasizing the significance of their achievement as a reflection of Bangladesh's youthful potential and the robust cooperation between Bangladesh and CERN, initiated in 2012 and reinforced by the 2014 International Cooperation Agreement. "Their achievement is a proud moment for Bangladesh and a powerful reminder that our greatest strength is our people, especially our youth," Ambassador Sobhan stated, highlighting the importance of nurturing talent and creativity within the country's young generation.
