Bangkok: Bangladesh national women’s football team suffered a 3-0 defeat to host Thailand in the first match of a two-match FIFA International friendly series held at Bangkok Thonburi University Football Training Centre.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh trailed 1-0 in the first half and conceded two additional goals in the second half. Thailand took an early lead with Orapin Waenngoen scoring in the first minute. After halftime, Saowalak Pengngam netted the second goal in the 51st minute, and Pattaranan Aupachai completed the tally with a third goal in the 86th minute.
The matches are part of Bangladesh’s preparation for the Women’s Asia Cup, which will start in Australia on March 1 next year. The Bangladesh Football Federation has arranged the tour in Thailand to enhance the team’s readiness for the tournament. Bangladesh will face Thailand again in the second and final friendly match on October 27.
