Dhaka: Bangladesh fell by one spot to 133rd in the latest FIFA World Ranking published by football's apex body. The Bangladesh women's football team lost almost six points, bringing their rating points to 1091.81.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the team recently played two FIFA international friendly matches against the United Arab Emirates on February 26 and March 2, losing both by 3-1 goals. Before the latest rankings were revealed, Bangladesh had moved up seven places to 132 after winning the SAFF Women's Championship title against Nepal last year. However, the defeats against the UAE have impacted their standing, causing a drop in their ranking.
The four other South Asian nations-Pakistan (157), Sri Lanka (158), Maldives (163), and Bhutan (171)-are all ranked behind Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the United States of America remains at the top of the women's football rankings, followed by Spain, Germany, England, and Japan, which moved up three places. The rankings see Sweden, Canada, and Brazil occupying the subsequent spots, with the latter two slipping one place down.
