Dhaka: The Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team suffered a narrow 7-run defeat against Sri Lanka in a closely contested match at the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in UAE.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the loss resulted in Bangladesh finishing the group stage as runners-up, setting up a potential semifinal clash with Pakistan. Sri Lanka, opting to bat first, posted a total of 228 before being bowled out in 49.2 overs. Vimath Dinsara was the standout performer for Sri Lanka, scoring 106, while captain Vihas Thewmika contributed 22 and Lakvin Abeysinghe added 21. On the bowling front, Al Fahad was Bangladesh’s most successful bowler, taking 4 wickets for 50 runs, with Rizan Hossain supporting him with 3 wickets for 40 runs.

Bangladesh’s chase ended at 221 all out in 49.3 overs, despite being in a strong position for much of the match. Opener Kalam Siddiki top-scored with 95 runs, while Debashis Deba added 31, and Farid Hasan remained not out on 24. In earlier ma
