Dhaka: The World Environment Day will be observed globally tomorrow, but in Bangladesh, the day's programmes will formally be observed on June 25 due to the Eid-ul-Azha holiday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change will organize different programmes marking the day on June 25 as the 10-day Eid-ul-Azha holiday begins tomorrow.
This year's theme for World Environment Day is 'Say no to plastic pollution-it is time to act'. The main event will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship International Conference Center in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, where the Chief Adviser of the interim government is expected to attend as the chief guest. On the same day, the Chief Adviser is also expected to inaugurate the National Tree Plantation Campaign along with a month-long Tree Fair and Environment Fair by planting a sapling.
In addition, the Chief Adviser will present the National Environment Awards and the National Awards for Tree Plantation and Wildlife Conservation. To promote awareness about plastic pollution, the theme and slogan of World Environment Day 2025 will be broadcast as scroll messages on Bangladesh Television, as well as across all private TV channels and electronic media.
