Dhaka: Bangladesh are all set to visit Sri Lanka for a full bilateral series, featuring two Tests, three ODIs, and as many T20 Internationals between June and July. With the two-match Test series, both teams will kick-start the new World Test Championship cycle.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh will arrive in Sri Lanka on June 13. The tour will kick off with the Test series, with the first match beginning on June 17 in Galle. Colombo will host the second and final Test from June 25. The Test series will be followed by three ODIs, scheduled for July 2, 5, and 8. The first two matches will be held in Colombo, while the third and final match is in Pallekele.
Pallekele will also host the first T20 on July 10. The last two T20 matches will be held in Dambulla and Colombo on July 13 and 16. This tour marks the first time Bangladesh will play a full bilateral series in Sri Lanka, featuring all three formats. Their last tour in Sri Lanka was in 2021, where they played two Tests and lost the series 1-0 after securing a draw in the first Test, thanks to strong performances from Najmul Hossain Shanto and then-captain Mominul Haque.
The last ODI series Bangladesh played in Sri Lanka was in 2019, a three-match series in which they were whitewashed. Bangladesh's last T20 tour in Sri Lanka was in 2017, a two-match series that ended in a 1-1 draw. Before the Sri Lanka tour, Bangladesh will visit the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan in May, playing seven T20 matches-two in the UAE and five in Pakistan. Most recently, Bangladesh played a two-match Test series against Zimbabwe at home, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
