Cumilla: Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Livestock Amin Ur Rashid has called for cooperation from all stakeholders to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people. ‘A democratic government has come to power through a fair election after a long time. So people have many expectations from this government,’ he stated. ‘Future Bangladesh will be a country of free thought and speech. The incumbent government will obviously work towards this goal,’ he added during a discussion with journalists at the Cumilla Circuit House today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister highlighted the industrial development in Cumilla, noting it has transformed into an industrial hub where he established the first export-oriented factory. ‘You have encouraged me. Now there has been a kind of industrial revolution in Cumilla. Its progress will continue,’ he remarked. Amin Ur Rashid also acknowledged Cumilla’s pioneering role in modern agriculture, citing the ‘Cumilla Model’ irrigation project by BARD founder Dr. Akhtar Hamid Khan as a significant achievement still recognized both domestically and internationally.
The minister emphasized that his position in the cabinet is entirely voluntary, declaring he would not accept any salaries, allowances, or government transport. He assured the residents of Cumilla of his continuous support and promised to restore the city’s reputation as an educational hub. Furthermore, regarding the longstanding demand for the establishment of the Cumilla Division, Amin Ur Rashid expressed his commitment to leading its implementation.
General Secretary of the City unit of BNP Yusuf Molla Tipu, Sadar Upazila BNP President Rezaul Qayyum, and senior government officials were present during the minister’s address.
