Dhaka: Expatriate Bangladeshis sent over $814.29 million in remittance during the first eight days of March in the 2024-25 fiscal year.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, of this total remittance, state-owned and specialised banks accounted for $299.80 million, while private banks received $512.94 million, as per data released by Bangladesh Bank today.
Among the state-owned banks, six commercial banks-Agrani, Janata, Rupali, Sonali, Basic, and BDBL-collected $231.35 million. Additionally, Bangladesh Krishi Bank, a state-owned specialised bank, received $68.45 million.
Private sector banks saw Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd. leading the pack, receiving the highest amount of remittance at $160.13 million.
