Dhaka: Expatriate Bangladeshis have sent over $1.05 billion in remittances during the first twelve days of April in the fiscal year 2024-25. This substantial amount underscores the continued financial contributions of Bangladeshis living and working abroad.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, state-owned and specialised banks accounted for $459.72 million of the remittances, while private banks received $590.34 million. The report from the Bangladesh Bank highlights a daily average remittance of $87.69 million sent by expatriates during this period.
In comparison, the previous month of March saw remittances totaling $3.29 billion, with a higher daily average of $109.85 million. This indicates a decrease in the daily average remittance amount in April compared to March, providing insight into the fluctuating nature of remittance flows into Bangladesh.
