Bangladesh Press Photo Contest-2025 Exhibition Time Extended

Dhaka: The 4th inauguration of the Bangladesh Press Photo Contest-2025 was held on April 19 to celebrate the professionalism, skill, and courage of the country’s photojournalists. Although the exhibition was scheduled to run until April 30, now it has been extended by another 17 days. It will be open to everyone from 3 pm to 8 pm every day until May 17 at Drik Path Bhaban at Panthapath, Dhaka.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Picture of the Year 2024 was awarded to Ashraful Alom, former photojournalist of Prothom Alo. He received Taka 1,00,000 as prize money. Six other photographers under three categories were also awarded at the event. The winners were from various categories including Politics, Public Interest Journalism, and Arts, Culture and Sports.



In the Politics category, Kazi Salahuddin Razu of Bonik Barta emerged as the winner, while Dr. Kumar Bishwajit of Reviewthatplace.com received an Honourable Mention. For Public Interest Journalism, M Yousuf Tushar of Business Bangladesh was the winner, with Md Abu Noman Omit of limerickbd.com receiving an Honourable Mention. In the Arts, Culture and Sports category, Jahir Ahammed Shakil of Image Ghor Photographic Society won, and Rashed Shumon of The Daily Star received an Honourable Mention.



Each category’s winners and honorable mentions received Taka 50,000 and Taka 10,000, respectively, in addition to crests and certificates. Additionally, Jajang Nokrek, a Garo Indigenous photographer, has won the Indigenous People Grant 2025 under the Bangladesh Press Photo Contest.



The 2025 Jury members included Rani Yan Yan, Advisor to Chakma Circle and Human Rights Defender; Munem Wasif, Photographer and teacher; Tanvir Chowdhury, Bangladeshi journalist of Al Jazeera; Zahidul Salim, Special Photojournalist of Prothom Alo; and Drik’s founder Photographer Dr. Shahidul Alam. Drik’s General Manager ASM Rezaur Rahman curated the exhibition.
