Dhaka: Two children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8:00 am on Thursday, bringing the country's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 1,046 this year. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified both fatalities as suspected measles deaths.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the total number of suspected measles deaths has now reached 946, while confirmed deaths from measles remain at 100. During the same 24-hour period, 1,282 new suspected measles cases were reported, increasing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 176,480. Additionally, 61 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, raising the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 20,343.
Since March 15 this year, a total of 155,602 patients with measles-like symptoms have been hospitalized across the country. Out of these, 149,540 have successfully recovered, as per DGHS data. The health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as efforts are underway to manage and control the spread of the disease.
