Dhaka: Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal- Bangladesh JaSad today submitted its opinions on reform proposals to the National Consensus Commission. The party, led by its general secretary Nazmul Haque Prodhan, presented its views to the commission’s Vice-Chairman, Professor Ali Riaz, at the Jatiya Sangsad Complex.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, commission members Safar Raj Hossain, Justice Emdadul Haque, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Dr Badiul Alam Majumder, and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Haider were present during the submission. Alongside them, Bangladesh JaSad leaders Indu Nanda Datta, Dr Mushtaq Hossain, and ATM Mahabbat Ali participated in the event.

Professor Ali Riaz remarked during the discussion that while the initiative for reform originated from the interim government, the demand itself is rooted in the people’s aspirations. He stated that the commission plans to finish the first round of talks with political parties by mid-May before commencing the second round.

The National Consensus Commission, led by Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, was established to build national consensus on reforms. It officially started its operations on February 15. The commission has focused on pivotal recommendations from five reform commissions: constitution, public administration, electoral system, judiciary, and ACC.

The commission distributed a set of recommendations in spreadsheet form to 38 political parties, requesting their specific opinions on significant reform proposals by March 13. With Bangladesh JaSad’s submission, a total of 32 political parties have provided their opinions to the commission.

The National Consensus Commission initiated formal dialogue on March 20 to finalize the recommendations proposed by the reform commissions.
