Savar:The State Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. MA Muhit, announced the formal initiation of operations for the Bangladesh Institute of Health Management (BIHM) in Savar, set to begin on January 1. The institute has been neglected and underutilized for years, but will soon host administrative training for doctors.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Muhit revealed that by December 31, all necessary renovations would be completed, enabling the institute to be fully operational. The announcement followed his inspection of the BIHM infrastructure and a meeting with local representatives and government officials.

The meeting concluded with the decision to form a joint team from the Health and Family Welfare Ministry, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), and the Public Works Department (PWD). This team will conduct a field inspection within two weeks to inventory any damaged or missing equipment. Additionally, the PWD will arrange working spaces and operationalize the substation within the next couple of days.

Dr. Muhit emphasized that the BIHM will transform into a national training center to develop doctors as skilled administrators. This initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to rebuild and enhance the healthcare delivery system in Bangladesh.

Dr. Muhit criticized the previous government for mismanagement, claiming it led to the neglect of the health system. He cited Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's recent declaration to rebuild Bangladesh's infrastructure and improve healthcare accessibility as a part of the government's plan.

He reassured that the current administration is committed to public service politics, aiming to eliminate corruption and wrongdoing. The inspection was attended by various officials, including local lawmaker Dewan Mohammod Salahuddin and Health Services Division Secretary Dr. ANM Bazlur Rashid.
