Dhaka: Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pawan Kumar Badhe, has emphasized the need for expanding bilateral trade and investment, calling for the removal of tariff and non-tariff barriers to strengthen commercial connectivity between Bangladesh and India. This call to action was made during a courtesy meeting with Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Administrator Md. Fazlul Hoque at the FBCCI office in Gulshan.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Indian Deputy High Commissioner highlighted the importance of forming a business-to-business (B2B) task force to facilitate trade and investment between the two nations. He noted that his office is actively engaged in discussions with the governments of both countries to expedite the establishment of this task force.
Badhe also sought cooperation from Bangladesh's private sector, under the leadership of FBCCI, to ensure the initiative's success. An FBCCI press release mentioned that India has recently simplified visa procedures for Bangladeshis, with the Indian High Commission in Dhaka issuing a substantial number of visas daily.
FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Hoque supported the proposal, stating that a joint task force could significantly enhance bilateral trade and cooperation. He encouraged businesses and entrepreneurs from both countries to collaborate in promoting investment and trade in emerging sectors.
The meeting focused on strategies to strengthen commercial relations and expand business opportunities between the neighboring countries.
