Bangladesh Government Unveils Proposed Budget for FY26

Dhaka: The government of Bangladesh has announced a proposed budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, with a total allocation of Taka 7.90 lakh crore. The budget was presented by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed in a pre-recorded speech broadcast on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the proposed budget aims to generate a revenue of Taka 5.64 lakh crore. Of this amount, Taka 4,99,000 crore is expected to be collected by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), while the remaining Taka 65,000 crore is anticipated from other sources.



The Annual Development Programme (ADP) for FY26 is set at Taka 2.30 lakh crore. The government plans to contribute Taka 1,44,000 crore to the ADP, with the remaining Taka 86,000 crore being sourced through project loans and grants.



The budget outlines a deficit of Taka 2.26 lakh crore, with proposals to finance Taka 1,25,000 crore from domestic sources and Taka 1,01,000 crore from foreign sources.
