Bangladesh Gears Up to Face Bhutan in SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship

Dhaka: Defending champions Bangladesh are set to continue their winning streak as they face Bhutan in their third match of the four-nation SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship at Bashundhara Kings Arena tomorrow. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm, followed by the day’s second match between Nepal and Bhutan at 7 pm at the same venue.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh currently leads the league table with six points from two matches. Nepal trails with three points from the same number of outings. In their previous encounters, Bangladesh showcased their dominance by thrashing Sri Lanka 9-1 and edging past Nepal 3-2. Meanwhile, Nepal began their campaign with a convincing 6-1 victory over Bhutan but fell short in their second match against Bangladesh.



Bangladesh’s remaining matches will be against Bhutan on July 17, Sri Lanka on July 19, and Nepal on July 21. Only four teams-Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka-are participating in the sixth edition of the tournament. The team that tops the league table after a double round-robin format will be crowned champion.



The Bangladesh squad for the tournament includes Swarna Rani Mandal, Nabiran Khatun, Mst Joynob Bibi Rita, Afeida Khandaker (captain), Mst Surma Jannat, Kanon Rani Bahadur, Sapna Rani, Mst Oeyshi Khatun, Sree Moti Trishna Rani, Mst Sagorika, Umehla Marma, Ayonto Bala Mahato, Rupa Akter, Mst Bonna Khatun, Most Munki Akhter, Kanom Akter, Mst Ruma Akter, Puja Das, Sinha Jahan Shikha, Shanti Mardi, Nadia Akter Juti, Mile Akter, and Mst Fardosi Akter Shonale.
