Colombo: Spirited Bangladesh U-17 National Football Team is looking forward to maintaining their supremacy as they face defending champions India in the final match of the SAFF U-17 Championship scheduled to be held at Racecourse ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka tomorrow. The match kicks off at 6.30 pm Bangladesh time.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, both Bangladesh and India have maintained an undefeated run in the tournament. They both emerged as group A champions by defeating Nepal and Sri Lanka with an identical margin of 4-0 goals. Bangladesh secured their spot in the final by defeating Pakistan 2-0 in the first semifinal.
India, on the other hand, started their campaign with a strong 6-0 victory over Maldives, followed by a narrow 1-0 win against Bhutan, and a 3-2 win over Pakistan. The defending champions reached the final after a commanding 3-0 victory against Nepal in the second semifinal match.
Meanwhile, Pakistan had a commendable performance in the group stages, winning against Bhutan with a 4-0 scoreline and Maldives with a 5-2 result. However, they fell short against India in a closely contested match, losing 3-2, and thus finished as group B runners-up.
The Bangladesh U-17 football team includes players like Alif Rahman Imtiaz, Tasin Saheb, Chandro Saha, Ikramul Islam, and Azam Khan, with Namul Huda Faisal leading as the captain. Other team members are Md Raj, Sabbir Islam, Shadat Hossain, Tarek Hossain, Ishan Habib Riduan, Kamal Merdha, Md Manik, Rifat Kazi, Ashik, Opu Rahman, Ruhul Amin Akash, Akash Ahmed, Mohin Ahmmed, Md Arif, Bayzit Bostami, Mahin Miah Sojib, and Akash Ahammad.
