Dhaka: Bangladesh Blind Cricket team became runners-up in the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup after tasting a 10-wicket defeat to hosts Pakistan in Multan today. Opting to bat first, Bangladesh put up a score of 139-7, which Pakistan overhauled in 11.2 overs. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tournament featured six teams and was held in Pakistan's two venues, Lahore and Multan, from November 21 to December 3. Alongside Bangladesh and Pakistan, the competition included teams from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, and South Africa. India was initially set to compete but eventually decided against playing on Pakistan soil. Bangladesh's journey to the final was marked by an impressive winning streak. They defeated Nepal by 67 runs in the opening match and secured a 25-run victory over Sri Lanka in their second game. The team continued their dominance by beating Pakistan in their third match, followed by a commanding 89-run win over Afghanistan. In their last group phase match, Bangladesh crushed South Afr ica by a margin of 73 runs. In the semifinal, Bangladesh faced off against Sri Lanka and emerged victorious with a narrow six-run win. Mohammad Salman of Bangladesh was awarded man of the match for his outstanding 97-run contribution in the semifinal. Bangladesh's performance in this tournament mirrored their previous achievement of finishing as runners-up in the 2022 edition held in India.
