Bangladesh Ensures Steady Fuel Supply with 2.5 Lakh Metric Tons in Stock

Dhaka: Bangladesh currently has 2.5 lakh metric tons of fuel oil in stock, which has resulted in a stable fuel supply situation across the nation. A press conference held at the Secretariat revealed that a total of 255,018 metric tons of fuel are available in stock, as confirmed by Monir Hossain Chowdhury, the joint secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Monir Hossain Chowdhury provided a breakdown of the fuel reserves. He highlighted that the largest portion of the stock is comprised of diesel, accounting for 1,22,660 metric tons or approximately 63 percent of the total fuel reserves. This substantial diesel stock ensures an uninterrupted supply for the country’s agriculture, transport, and industrial sectors.



In addition to diesel, there are 9,210 metric tons of octane in reserve, sufficient to fulfill the requirements of personal vehicles and high-performance engines. The petrol stock stands at 12,194 metric tons, further supporting the transportation sector.



Monir Hossain also detailed the availability of other fuel types, including 41,876 metric tons of jet fuel, 58,736 metric tons of furnace oil, 9,378 metric tons of kerosene, and 1,153 metric tons of marine fuel. He assured that the current stock levels are adequate to meet the country’s energy demands effectively.
