Dhaka: Bangladesh national cricketers are set to arrive in Sylhet this evening to commence the final phase of their training in preparation for the upcoming series against the Netherlands and the Asia Cup. The team is scheduled to depart from Dhaka on a 7:30 pm flight.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a BCB official disclosed that the main segment of the training will be conducted in Sylhet. Until now, the cricketers have been undergoing fitness drills in Dhaka, which included a 1600-meter time trial, gym work, running, acrobatic exercises, and skill training.

The decision to move the training to Sylhet was influenced by the conditions of the Mirpur pitch, which is deemed sluggish and not suitable for Asia Cup preparations in the UAE. Consequently, the three-match T20 International series against the Netherlands has also been scheduled to take place in Sylhet.

The Netherlands is expected to arrive in Bangladesh on August 26. The T20I matches will be held on August 30, September 1, and September 3
at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. After concluding the series, Bangladesh will head to the UAE for the Asia Cup.

Currently, Bangladesh has not yet announced the final squad for the series against the Netherlands. The selectors plan to utilize the Sylhet training phase to finalize the team selection.

Bangladesh’s preliminary T20 squad includes players such as Liton Das, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Naim Sheikh, Soumya Sarkar, and several others. The selectors will observe the players’ performances during the Sylhet training to determine the final lineup.
