Dhaka: A daylong ‘Bangladesh-China Conference on Investment and Trade’ is scheduled to take place on June 1 at “Biniyog Bhaban” (Investment Building) in Dhaka. The event is being organized jointly by the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the conference will be inaugurated by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, with China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao expected to attend as well. Around 250 investors and businessmen from approximately 100 Chinese companies will participate, representing industries such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and agro sectors.
Wang Wentao is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka around noon on May 31, in preparation for the conference. Throughout the day, Chinese and Bangladeshi business representatives will engage in five separate match-making sessions aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and investment.
BIDA officials have stated that these sessions will cover various sectors including ready-made garments and textiles, agro-processing, ICT, electronics, and others.
