"It has come to the attention of the Bangladesh Army that India Today has once again published a report based on false and fabricated information regarding a routine meeting held by the Bangladesh Army," stated a rejoinder issued by the ISPR.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the article titled "Bangladesh Army Holds Emergency Meeting Amid Possibility of Coup Against Chief Adviser Mohammad Yunus," published today (25 March 2025), serves as a clear example of journalistic malpractice and signals the decline of India Today into a disseminator of disinformation. The report, which lacks credible sources or verifiable evidence, aims to spread baseless rumors about the Bangladesh Army. The rejoinder emphasized that the information in the article is entirely unfounded, and the claims of an "impending coup" are deceitful.
The rejoinder further criticized India Today for continuing to publish sensationalist narratives without exercising due diligence or showing a commitment to journalistic integrity. This is not the first incident where India Today has been accused of spreading false information about the Bangladesh Army. A similar pattern of misleading and factually incorrect reporting was previously exposed and debunked in a rejoinder issued by the Bangladesh Army on March 11, 2025.
The continuation of these false narratives is a concerning reflection of the editorial practices at India Today, which seem to have shifted focus from factual reporting to sensationalism at the expense of truth.
