Dhaka: Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam today expressed optimism about fortifying the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Switzerland through enhanced cooperation in sectors such as infrastructure, technology, port management, and development.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the remarks from Minister Alam were made during a courtesy call by Reto Renggli, the Swiss ambassador to Bangladesh, at the minister’s office in Dhaka. Ambassador Renggli congratulated the current government, which has the overwhelming support of the people of Bangladesh, and conveyed Switzerland’s interest in advancing bilateral relations grounded in mutual interests and cooperation.
The ambassador emphasized the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Switzerland, noting that both countries are eager to expand their cooperation in the coming years. He highlighted the opportunities for collaboration in Bangladesh’s infrastructure development, technology sector, port management, and various development projects. Renggli also assured Switzerland’s ongoing support and collaboration in these areas based on mutual partnership.
Minister Alam welcomed the ambassador, acknowledging Bangladesh’s rapid progress in infrastructure and development. He remarked that cooperation from international partners could play a significant role in sustaining this advancement. The minister expressed optimism about joint efforts with Switzerland in areas like infrastructure development, technology transfer, port management, and increasing foreign investment.
He further noted that collaboration with international partners is crucial for Bangladesh’s development journey and that cooperation with a friendly nation like Switzerland would help accelerate the implementation of various development projects. At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed the desire to maintain regular communication and cooperation to further strengthen Bangladesh-Switzerland relations in the future.
Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque was also present during the meeting.
