Bangladesh and Russia Discuss Military and Technical Cooperation

Dhaka: Bangladesh and Russia on Sunday engaged in discussions concerning security matters, including those at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), as the countries prepare for the commissioning of unit number 1.

According to United News of Bangladesh, these discussions took place during a meeting between Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Khozin and the Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam. The meeting also saw the presence of Russian Military, Air and Naval Attach© Colonel Pavel Ivashinnikov and his Assistant Lieutenant-Colonel Khamit Khalikov, as confirmed by the Russian Embassy in Dhaka.

The parties explored avenues for military and technical cooperation between the two nations, with a focus on ensuring security at the Rooppur NPP in anticipation of its upcoming operational phase. The dialogue reflects the ongoing collaboration between Bangladesh and Russia in areas of mutual strategic interest.
