Dhaka: Bangladesh and the Maldives have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their longstanding bilateral relations, with a focus on expanding cooperation in areas such as multilateral affairs, education, and people-to-people exchanges. This commitment was highlighted during a courtesy call by Bangladesh's Foreign Minister, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, on Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at the President's Office.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, President Muizzu expressed his warm welcome to Dr. Khalilur, appreciating his visit to the Maldives as a special guest for the country's 61st Independence Day celebrations. The meeting underscored the importance of enhancing Bangladesh-Maldives bilateral relations, with specific emphasis on multilateral cooperation and educational opportunities, alongside fostering greater people-to-people ties.
Both leaders emphasized the deep-rooted and enduring friendship between the two nations, reiterating their commitment to broadening cooperation in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of their peoples.
Dr. Khalilur Rahman's visit to the Maldives, from July 25 to 27, as a special guest for the Independence Day celebrations, marks a significant step in reinforcing these bilateral ties. Upon his arrival in the Maldives, he was received by Maldivian Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
