Bangladesh and Maldives Aim to Enhance Defence Cooperation

Dhaka: Bangladesh and the Maldives have expressed their commitment to bolstering defence diplomacy, military cooperation, institutional collaboration, and strategic partnership. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives, Dr. Md Nazmul Islam, and Maldives' Minister of Defence and National Service, Hassan Rasheed.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the discussions focused on expanding cooperation in several areas including professional military education and training, defence institutional exchanges, humanitarian assistance, disaster response, maritime security, and capacity building. Both parties conveyed optimism about future enhancements in defence collaboration, which they believe will contribute to peace, stability, and security in the Indian Ocean region.
