Dhaka:State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir emphasized that sincerity at both political and official levels between Bangladesh and India is crucial for resolving the long-standing water-sharing issues between the two nations.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Kobir highlighted the need for cooperation among senior officials, political leaders, and water negotiators from both countries. He expressed optimism that a positive resolution could be achieved if both sides demonstrate a willingness to collaborate. Diplomacy and dialogue, he stated, are essential for addressing these matters.
Kobir noted that discussions are ongoing, facilitated by the Joint Rivers Commission, which serves as the primary mechanism for bilateral discussions on shared-river issues. He also mentioned that Bangladesh is considering international law in its approach to these issues, aiming to enhance regional cooperation.
