Bangladesh Ambassador Hosts Iftar-Dinner for Diplomatic Corps in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal, hosted an iftar-dinner on Tuesday in honor of the Heads of Mission and members of the diplomatic corps in Kathmandu. Senior officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other distinguished guests attended the event.



According to United News of Bangladesh, in his welcome remarks, the Ambassador conveyed Ramadan greetings and reflected on the spirit and teachings of the holy month. He highlighted the longstanding friendly ties between Bangladesh and Nepal and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to strengthening the partnership.



The envoy also congratulated the people of Nepal on the peaceful and successful elections, calling it a significant milestone in the country’s democratic journey, and expressed Bangladesh’s willingness to work with the new government.



Referring to Bangladesh’s own democratic path, Ambassador Rahman noted that the country’s new government is committed to advancing democratic reforms and building a corruption-free, discrimination-free, and prosperous Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.



The evening concluded with iftar followed by dinner, offering a mix of international dishes and Bangladeshi seafood specialties. Heads of Mission from 18 embassies, international and regional organizations, including Ambassadors from Germany, France, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Finland, Japan, Egypt, and Myanmar, as well as CDAs of the USA, Malaysia, Russia, and Deputy Chiefs of Mission from India and the UK, attended. SAARC Secretary General, UN Resident Coordinator, and the ILO chief in Nepal were also present.
