Dhaka: Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz elected to bat first in the second ODI against Sri Lanka after winning the toss at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today. The match turned out to be a ‘do or die’ game for Bangladesh after losing the first match by 77 runs. A defeat in this match will cost them the series, making the third and final one a dead-rubber.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh were well placed to win the first game while chasing a victory target of 245, but a collapse that saw them lose seven wickets for just five runs in 26 balls did the ultimate damage. The visitors, however, made two changes from the squad of the first ODI, leaving out Liton Das and Taskin Ahmed. Liton, who was out for a duck in the last match, made just 13 runs in his last eight ODIs, including four ducks. Taskin did well by taking 4-47 in the first game, which was his first match after recovering from the injury. It was not immediately known as to why he was left out.

Sri Lanka also had two changes in a bid to confirm the series with a match to go. Dunith Wellalage and Dushmantha Chameera returned to the squad, replacing Milan Rathnayake and Eshan Malinga.
