Banglabandha: Import and export activities at Banglabandha Land Port, the only four-country land port in the region, will be suspended for seven days in observance of Eid-ul-Azha.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a notice issued by the Banglabandha Land Port C and F Agent Association stated that trading operations will cease from May 25 to May 31. Normal activities are set to resume at 9:00 am on June 1. Despite the closure of cargo operations, passenger movement using valid passports and visas will continue without interruption throughout the holiday period.
The announcement was made in a notification signed by the Association’s President, Rezaul Karim Reza, and General Secretary, Sadequl Islam, on Sunday night. The decision followed a meeting on May 18 with traders and C and F agents involved in import-export activities. Indian traders utilizing the port were also informed about the temporary suspension of operations.
Abul Kalam Azad, manager and in-charge of the land port, confirmed that the halt in operations aligns with decisions made by traders in preparation for the Eid-ul-Azha festivities. Concurrently, Kefayetul Wares, in-charge of the Banglabandha Immigration Police, assured that immigration services for international passengers will remain active despite the shutdown of cargo operations. Security measures have been enhanced around the port area to ensure smooth movement and public safety during the holiday period.
