Dhaka:The Bangla Academy has launched the 'Bangla Academy Font' as part of its initiative to enhance the use of the Bangla language in the digital realm. The font was introduced during a programme at the Shaheed Munier Chowdhury Conference Hall of the Bangla Academy.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the development of the font is a component of the 'Enriching Bangla Language through Information Technology' project. The aim is to support and expand the use of Bangla in information technology.
During the event, Project Director Mahbub Karim, language technology expert Mamun-or Rashid, and publication specialist Shahidul Islam were present to formally hand over a specimen of the new font to Bangla Academy Director General Professor Mohammad Azam.
The initiative reflects the growing importance of strengthening Bangla's presence in digital platforms, education, publishing, media, and official communication. The launch of the 'Bangla Academy Font' represents a significant step in this direction.
The programme was conducted on Tuesday, which also corresponded to 21 Ashwin 1433 in the Bangla calendar.
