Bagerhat: Bagerhat Sahitya Parishad on Saturday organised a programme to mark the first anniversary of the July Mass Uprising, honouring the martyrs and the injured. The event took place at the Retired Government Employees Welfare Association auditorium, under the presidency of Bagerhat Sahitya Parishad President Prof Zaman Asad.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme featured addresses by Senior Advocate Salimullah Ellis, poet Zakir Hossain, poet HM Humayun Kabir, former general secretary of Bagerhat Press Club Azad Ruhul Amin, and editor of fortnightly Khan Jahan Sheikh Abu Sayeed. Their speeches highlighted the significance of the uprising and the sacrifices made by the martyrs.
Artists from the Khan Jahan group performed musical pieces, adding a cultural dimension to the commemoration. The event also included the release and distribution of the publication “Eternal July,” which aims to document and preserve the history of the uprising.
A documentary screening provided attendees with insights into the lives of the martyrs and the injured from the Khulna division. The programme concluded with special prayers dedicated to the martyrs and the injured, ensuring that their contributions are remembered.
