Dhaka: Prof. Dr. Olav Muurlink of Central Queensland University in Australia paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan at the latter's office on the campus.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was also attended by Associate Professor Dr. Dilara Zahid of DU's Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies. The discussions centered on possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs focused on disaster management and child education in the coastal areas of Bangladesh. These initiatives aim to foster a cooperative academic relationship between Dhaka University and Central Queensland University.
The meeting further explored the arrangement of training programs and workshops designed for young teachers and students at DU, in collaboration with Central Queensland University. Such programs are expected to enhance academic and practical skills among participants.
During the meeting, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between policy and practical academic literature. He highlighted that ensuring quality research outcomes will ultimately benefit common people, underscoring the potential positive impacts of the collaborative efforts discussed.
