Dhaka: Acting Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Nardia Simpson today met with Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain at his office. During their meeting, they discussed various bilateral issues and interests, according to a press release. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Religious Affairs Adviser Khalid Hossain emphasized that Australia is a key development partner for Bangladesh, contributing significantly to the country's infrastructure and socio-economic growth. He described the relationship between the two nations as close and friendly, expressing optimism for even stronger ties in the future. Hossain also requested continued Australian assistance for the development of Bangladesh and briefed the Australian envoy on the activities of the Religious Affairs Ministry. He highlighted efforts to maintain communal harmony in the country and informed Simpson about steps taken by the government for the smooth celebration of the recently held Durga Puja. In response, the Australian envoy emphasized the role of imams in preventing child marriage and stopping violence against women. The meeting was attended by Additional Secretaries of the ministry Md Naib Ali Mandal and Md. Abdul Awal Howlader, First Secretary (development) of the Australian High Commission Syed Sajjad Haider, First Secretary (Political) Lara Adams, and Personal Secretary of the adviser Sadek Ahmed.
