Dhaka: Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain declared that the recent attacks on media houses, The Daily Star and Prothom Alo, are unacceptable and condemnable. Emphasizing the seriousness of the situation, Hossain expressed regret over the inability to prevent such incidents, highlighting the importance of press freedom.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Hossain made these remarks during a farewell interaction with the media at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He noted that while the interim government has allowed media to operate freely, incidents like these pose a threat to journalistic independence. Hossain suggested that the Home Ministry would be more equipped to address the specifics of the attacks and any related mob violence.

The attacks, which occurred on the late night of December 18, were a major point of discussion. Hossain reiterated his condemnation of these acts, maintaining that they are inexcusable. Senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present during the media briefing, underscoring the government’s unified stance against these violations.
