Asst Presiding Officer and Woman Killed in Sherpur Road Crash

Sherpur: Two people, including an assistant presiding officer, were killed and five others injured when a mini-truck collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Sherpur-Jamalpur road at Shimultoli in Sadar upazila of Sherpur district.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the deceased were identified as Md Rokonuzzaman, 31, an assistant presiding officer at Sherpur Government Girls' High School, and Mahfuza Begum, 19, wife of Nirob Mia from Jamalpur district. The tragic accident took place around 9 am near the Jamalpur Bridge area, resulting in Rokonuzzaman's immediate death and injuries to six others.

Sohel Rana, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, reported that Mahfuza succumbed to her injuries while en route to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital. The other injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital and Sherpur Upazila Health Complex.
