Asia Cup Triathlon in Pokhara from April 27: Athletes from 15 countries in race

Country's tourist hub, Pokhara, is hosting the Asia Cup and South Asian Triathlon Championship from April 27. Preparation for the event has reached the final stage. Nepal Triathlon Association is organizing the tournament with management of Gandaki Province and Kaski district triathlon association. The championship being attended by 64 athletes from 15 countries will be held at Lakeside of Pokhara, according to Suman Devkota, central chair of Nepal Triathlon Association. The players attending the event have begun arriving in Pokhara. The sports tourist are coming from Australia, the UAE, Palestine, Uruguay, Austria, Algeria, New Zealand, Luxemburg, Japan, India, Mauritius, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan. It would be a significant event because the chair of World Triathlon Association, Marisol Kasado, and general secretary Antonio Aramani are gracing the championship. The triathlon is held in sprint. A 750-meter swimming will be held in Phewa Lake and a 20-km cycling to be followed by a running of 5-km. The winners will be decided based on time consumed for swimming, cycling and race. It is expected that the games would not only contribute to promotion and development of sports, but also to the Pokhara tourism. Source: National News Agency RSS
