Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today emphasized that the sacrifice made by Asaduzzaman Asad, a prominent student leader from the 1969 anti-Ayub mass movement, continues to inspire the ongoing struggle to safeguard democracy. Fakhrul highlighted the significance of Asad’s contribution, urging the nation to commit to building a prosperous Bangladesh by embracing the democratic ideals for which Asad laid down his life. He called for a resolute determination to establish democracy and secure the rights of the people, marking this as a solemn pledge on Shaheed Asad Day.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul expressed deep respect for Asaduzzaman Asad and prayed for the forgiveness of his soul in a statement commemorating Shaheed Asad Day. The occasion will be honored by the 1990 Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Shaheed Asad Parishad, who have organized a floral tribute at the Shaheed Asad Memorial in front of the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College at 8:00 am tomorrow. The event will see the participation of leaders from both ’90 DUCSU and Shaheed Asad Parishad, as confirmed in a press release by Khairul Kabir Khokon, General Secretary of ’90 DUCSU and Joint Secretary General of BNP.
