Dhaka: The district administration has distributed health cards to approximately 200 individuals injured during the July Uprising, allowing them to receive healthcare services from government institutions at no cost. This initiative aims to support those who were affected during the historical events in accessing essential medical care.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner Choudhury Muazzam Ahmed presented the health cards to the recipients and some of their close relatives during a ceremony held at the district collectorate building. The event took place on Sunday afternoon, with Superintendent of Police (SP) Nishat Angella attending as a special guest, alongside senior police and district administration officials.
Md. Aminul Islam, one of the injured individuals from the July-August incidents, shared his experience of sustaining 30 bullet wounds during the uprising. With the assistance of the Shahid Ziaur Rahman Foundation, he received treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where three surgeries were performed to remove the bullets. Despite the surgeries, he continues to endure pain from his injuries.
Islam expressed his gratitude to the interim government led by Professor Muhammad Yunus for their initiative in providing health cards. He highlighted the importance of these cards in facilitating access to necessary healthcare services for those affected by the uprising.
