Khagrachhari: Bangladesh Army in collaboration with Khagrachhari District Sadar Hospital provided free specialised medical services to 861 patients in the hill district. Specialist physicians from the surgery, medicine, dermatology, gynaecology, and ophthalmology departments treated the patients and provided necessary medical advice yesterday, said an ISPR press release today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, hundreds of ethnic minority and Bengali people from remote and hard-to-reach areas of the hill district benefited from the free healthcare services. Under an initiative of different zones of Khagrachhari Region, arrangements were made to bring patients from remote and inaccessible areas to the district sadar hospital for treatment by specialist physicians.
The initiative enabled people facing geographical and communication barriers to access necessary healthcare and medical advice, the release said. The Bangladesh Army regularly conducts humanitarian assistance and public welfare activities in the Chattogram Hill Tracts as part of efforts to promote communal harmony and socio-economic development in the region. Such initiatives will continue in the future, the ISPR said.
