Dhaka: The Bangladesh Army-led joint forces have apprehended 157 suspected criminals in a series of operations conducted over an eight-day period, from December 25, 2025, to January 1, 2026. The operations were carried out in various locations across the country, including the capital city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the coordinated efforts involved various infantry divisions and independent brigades of the Bangladesh Army, working in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies. A release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate detailed that the joint operations led to the capture of individuals involved in criminal activities such as terrorism, drug dealing, robbery, and smuggling.
During these operations, authorities seized 13 illegal firearms, 228 rounds of ammunition, 10 petrol bombs, several cocktails, contraband drugs, and sharp weapons from the arrested individuals. All arrestees have been handed over to local police stations for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
The Bangladesh Army continues to conduct regular patrols and security operations throughout the country to ensure public safety. The ISPR also called on the public to report any suspicious or unusual activities to the nearest army camp, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining security.
